A beautiful abstract carving of a couple embracing and kissing. This fair trade ornament was hand carved by Balinese craftsmen using a local wood which is then stained to give a rich, dark wood appearance.

The crafts person has employed an abstract style, so the contours of the figures are implied in an ingenious and effective way, while the gap formed between the figures forms the shape of a heart.

This fair trade carving measures approx 30cm in height and 17cm at its widest point.

The importer of these products has a direct trading policy and they are a member of BAFTS. They visit the poorer regions of the world, such as; Indonesia, Nepal, Peru and the Amazon in search of quality crafts. Once found they pay a fair price, often making advanced payments to enable craftsman or artist to purchase raw materials. This direct trading policy currently provides well paid regular employment for about 200 families.
